When does Chardham Yatra Starts & End?

Every Year Chardham Yatra begins from the month of April end or May onwards and continues until October/November as the doors of all four temples (Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yumunotri & Gangotri) remain open till the day of “The Diwali” which is celebrated every year during the month of October/November. Which Dham is most difficult?

Yamunotri is the first of the four Dhams and the toughest. Although it is located at a lower elevation than the other Dhams, the narrow and crowded pathway makes reaching the temple challenging and tough. Devotees can be carried by Palkies/ Ponies and Pitthu from the hotel to the temple.

Devotees can either travel to Chardham by road or via helicopter. However, there is no direct road to the temple and you will have to walk a bit at a few shrines. But, using the helicopter service can definitely cut the travel time and fetch easiness at the same time. The safest way to navigate the rough terrain is by helicopter which is flown by retired pilots from Indian Defence forces.

There are no set guidelines issued by the Government to Chardham Helicopter operators ex-Dehradun in respect of extra weight charges and these charges at times vary from Rs.1,000/- to 3,000/- per extra kg beyond 75 Kg of the prescribed average weight. The charges can be negotiated since these are not fixed and are charged to cater to the extra weight charged by Palki’s vendors at Yamunotri and the helicopter shuttle operators at the Kedarnath base.

Helicopter charges for Children/ infants?
